Installing, using and customising the Dreamweaver templates
The new templates are supplied as a zip package containing three folders that should be familiar to users of the current university template. Setting up to use the templates to create or upgrade a site is a simple process. Follow the steps below with links to further information about each step of the process.
- Make sure your Dreamweaver local site setup is correct.
- Place the template files in their correct locations
- If applicable, check out how to set up multiple sites on the same server
- Customise your site’s colours, graphics and include files.
- Create pages using the dreamweaver template files.
- If the site uses the ‘blue curve’ template, follow the guide to upgrading a site from the 'blue curve' template.
New Webfarm Settings
If your site has been migrated to the new webfarm, you will need to adjust your remote file settings for the new server.
Compatibility Notes
-
Dreamweaver MX users will see an unstyled page because this version does not support absolutely referenced stylesheets.
- Dreamweaver 8 supports most of the css used in the new template, but still may fail to display some items correctly (eg: the logo!).
- In both the above cases, the page should still display correctly when viewed in a browser.
- Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 has greatly improved css support. There is one glitch in the way the content area is displayed, but otherwise it seems fully compatible with the existing templates.
