How to comply
Guidelines for staff members to comply with Privacy policy of the University are available from the University Secretary's Department.The Standard Privacy Statement for Students is also useful in that you should familiarise your self with the privacy expectations held by students in relation to the use of their information.

Freedom of information (FOI)
Under the Victorian Freedom of Information Act (1982), people have general rights (subject to specified exceptions) to request information held by the University of Melbourne.
The definition of "document" is quite broad in terms of the FOI Act, and can include books, drawings and photography. Documents can also include electronic mail messages. For details of further inclusion under the term "document" you should refer to the University Secretary's Department
